AI Capability Is Not an Operating Solution

Written by Alexandra Jarvis

Choosing an AI model has become relatively straightforward compared with the challenge that follows: making it work reliably inside an enterprise process. A useful multilingual solution may need translation technology, quality evaluation, terminology validation, content adaptation, enterprise data and expert review, all operating under an organisation’s requirements for security, quality and governance.

That places the focus on how capabilities work together. STREAM AI is designed as an operating environment in which enterprise context, specialist applications, orchestration, integration and human expertise can be assembled around a defined business outcome.

Making AI operational

The AI Profile supplies the context required for the work, including terminology, instructions, quality requirements and constraints. Separating this context from an individual model means it can be applied consistently as applications and technologies change.

STREAM AI Apps provide focused operational capabilities. An App may address quality evaluation, content adaptation, anonymisation, terminology validation or classification. Each combines the required technology with enterprise context, controls and expert oversight so that a general capability can be applied to a specific business problem.

The Orchestrator coordinates execution. It applies the relevant AI Profile and assembles the appropriate combination of Apps, language technologies, enterprise systems and human expertise according to the content and its level of risk. Its role includes invoking controls and ensuring that exceptions or consequential decisions reach people with the appropriate authority.

Enterprise AI also has to coexist with existing technology. The Bridge connects STREAM AI with content repositories, language technologies, AI services and other enterprise platforms, allowing existing investments to remain part of the solution. Managed AI then provides the specialist expertise needed to maintain AI Profiles, calibrate evaluation, manage exceptions, monitor outcomes and improve Apps, workflows and controls.

The practical benefit is flexibility. A model, application or supplier can change without requiring the organisation to recreate its business context and operating logic from scratch. Technology remains important, but the ability to combine and govern changing capabilities becomes the more durable enterprise asset.
